This hotel was OK if you don't mind constant noise all day and all night from either the bar, the traffic on the main road directly in front of the hotel or the the nightclubs and restaurants close by - or your fellow holiday maker crashing up and down the stairs at all hours of the night. We went in May and the locals described the town as dead - must be really hideous in August when it's 40 degrees, the mossies are out and there are wall to wall clubbers - nice!
The hotel is right in the centre of Bodrum which is great in terms of being close to everything but if you want to relax - go elsewhere. In two weeks we had one good night's sleep when we took a two day trip to Efes and Pammukale.
In it's defence, the staff are very good and friendly. The rooms are relatively clean. The breakfast is OK but really boring after two weeks. There is nowhere safe to store your luggage when you check out of the room forcing you to pay to keep the room on.
We would never stay at the Istankoy again but we would go back to Turkey in a flash. There's so much to see and it has a great deal to offer. Definitely recommend the two day trop to Efes and Pammukale. We just prefer something where you can get a bit of peace and quiet occasionally.
