Hotel George, Golden Beach
Hotel George is officially rated as C by the tourist authority. The hotel comprises of only 10 guest rooms and is particularly suited to people travelling without any children, as the hotel will not accept bookings that include anyone under the age of 16.
Standard rooms at the George can sleep 2 people on twin beds. Air conditioning is available, but unfortunately this is not included in the cost of your holiday and needs to be paid for at the hotel reception. Rooms also include a television and hairdryer.
To give you an idea of the location of this hotel, we are reliably informed that it's 400 metres to the beach, supermarket is 300 metres, tavern 100 metres, cafe 200 metres. To reach the George Hotel, you will be required to take a ferry from the mainland, which is included if you buy a package holiday from most UK tour operators who use this hotel.

The George Hotel in the resort of Golden Beach on the Greek Island of Thassos is a basic 2 star hotel.
The rooms are tiny not room to swing a cat but surprisingly the bathroom was quite large by comparison.
The breakfast was pretty naff.
The owners were friendly and the bar was a nice place to congregate in the evening. No swimming pool.
Best for couples during our stay it was classified as an adult only hotel. It was good value for money but was not really for us. The resort of Golden boasted some nice tavernas, the best 2 in my opinion were Sotiris Taverna and Federas. Also it was only a 15 minute walk to the next resort of Skala Potamis and Akrogialia Taverna was well worth stopping for a meal.

The Hotel George is situated on the only road in and out of the lovely resort of Golden Beach and is therefore subject to a element of traffic noise but generally not enough to disturb you. The beach is a 10 minute walk whilst the nearest tavern and mini market are about a 5 minutes stroll.
The rooms in hotel are spotlessly clean but a shade on the small size. As long as you are only using to sleep and change then it is fine but no good if you want to spend long periods in the room.
Our main objection was the cost of the air conditioning. Breakfast is basic but enough to get one started for the day. The owners are friendly and the whole place is very homely. There is a bar beneath the rooms where most guests tend to congregate after returning from their evening meal.
The hotel and resort of Golden Beach is very relaxed with a glorious beach, good tavernas but very few shops. It would only suit couple who prefer a sedate holiday and in our opinion is not suitable to families or singles. We thought the George Hotel was excellent value for money but did have its limitations.
