The Sol Puerto de la Cruz, formally known as the Melia Puerto De La Cruz, is located at the top of the resort, and could be unsuitable for people who don't want to pay a small taxi fare to the seafront. The hotel runs a bus to the shopping complex several times per day, but not on Sundays.
The hotel comprises of 300 rooms on 6 floors. Room facilities include television, telephone, air conditioning, bathroom with hairdryer & mini bar.

The Melia is quite a distance from the seafront and you are required to walk down over 100 steps to get to the sea. We always returned back up to the hotel vas a short 2 euro taxi ride!
The hotel offers nightly entertainment and is of a standard hotel offering featuring cabaret, magic shows etc.
Food at the Melia is of a high standard and is well worth taking the half board option.
One word of warning, they use a function room below the reception for wedding receptions and it can get noisy on Saturday nights, overall a very good hotel.
