We found the hotel perfect, the staff excellent, friendly, helpful. The hotel was spotless in every way, and the cleaners left no stone unturned.
But at the time we went, the onsite restaurant was closed and we had to venture into town, which wasn't a bad thing, as the food everywhere is excellent.
The only sad point and I think we just chose the wrong time, was that inspite of the no diving signs around the pool, nothing was done to stop the unruly FEW diving on and splashing all those around them, as the pool area is lovely but very compact. The same unruly few banged doors all hours of the day, and came in in the early hours banging doors and waking everyone up. The hotel has a square inner courtyard, and the sound echoes everywhere. As I said it may have been the wrong time for us, but if you want a quiet relaxing hol, keep looking.
Colon2 is well worth the money if your a heavy sleeper your ok, if not, it's not for you!

We only stayed at the Colon 2 Apartments for one night as our chosen hotel was fully booked on the first night of our holiday.
Because we were there for only 1 night, we kept costs low by booking a studio and we were given a room on the ground floor.
The studio was fairly small but had a separate kitchen area and was spotlessly clean. Located at the end of the row and set back slightly further than the other studios, our room had a much larger garden than the other studios. Be aware that all the ground and first floor apartments at the Colon II Apartments on that side of the block face a very high fence, so it felt a little claustrophobic.
The pool area was a relaxing spot and the general location of the complex was favourable. If you hire a car, then you should be aware that parking near the Colon II Apartments can be tricky, especially in the mornings. There are a few parking spaces available just outside the complex but you are not allowed to park there from 9am - 1pm as they are reserved for deliveries only.
I would be happy to stay at the apartments in the future, but would require an apartment instead of a studio, if I intended to stay longer than 1 night.

Stayed at the Colon II July, 30th for a week it was very clean and the Scottish lady at reception was lovely and very helpful.
The things I didn't like was the extras you had to pay for i.e. the television. The bed was terrible you might as well have slept on the floor it was that hard.
You couldn't get near the pool as we would have liked to, as the sunbeds had towels on them and the people who placed the towels were somewhere else!!! They have rules but no one sticks to them.
The resort in my opinion was suited for younger people who drink a lot, as there was pubs everywhere and not much in the way of shopping for my liking, I wouldn't go there again but I did enjoy the Jungle Park excursion.

Stayed at the Colon II Apartments at the beginning of July 2010 with my hubby and our 16yr old son in a 2 bedroom apartment which was great.
These have got to be the cleanest apartments I've ever stayed in, the staff were constantly cleaning everything which is fantastic. The pool is lovely and contrary to other reviews is Not that cold..... We like to be round the pool a lot and never had any problems getting sun beds even though I'd read other reviews saying it was a problem.
All the staff were pleasant and helpful. Have to say though our 16yr old was a bit bored while we were sunbathing because there are no organised sports activities (water polo, football etc through the day) this meant there wasn't really any opportunity for our son to get involved in stuff and meet people his own age. Also most people staying there were either families consisting of grandparents/parents and young children, couples or groups friends aged between 19 & 22. So wouldn't recommend it for family groups like ours unless your kids take a friend. That said we all had a great relaxing holiday, with the added highlight of Spain winning the world cup while we were there making the atmosphere in pubs and restaurants fantastic.
Have also got to recommend Siam water park brilliant brilliant brilliant.... Would definitely go back to the Colon II Apartments again either with big family group or group of friends. I'd also recommend hiring fans because the ceiling fans went round but didn't move the air at all (it was extremely hot while we were there though so that could have been the reason for that).
All in all great apartments great holiday and would recommend it if you like self catering holidays. :-)

Weather was great (in spite of going in early May) with temperatures in mid-20s and plenty of sun. We stayed at Colon II as we had done so in June 2008 and found it well-located and very, very clean ... the only drawback being the hard beds.
In the evenings we went to the Las Angeles Restaurant Bar almost every night (as we did so on our previous holiday) and had good food (at around 8.30pm) and entertainment (which started around 9pm). We usually stayed until about 1.30am. The staff was very friendly and encouraged the customers to sing-along, our son being dragged up to play the tambourine and also to do some show boxing (not real punching).
As we had done a number of excursions my wife and I just went on the Island Tour this time. My son, daughter and her boyfriend (all in their low twenties) mainly did their own thing during the day but joined us each evening at Las Angeles. They also visited Siam Water Park (not built until last August) and were really impressed. They also did some Karting (free bus to and from the hotel). We were not too adventurous with food during the daytime, sticking to English cooked breakfasts (3 Euros) or burgers and chips at Burger King. Drinks were 2.50 Euros each for St Miguel beer or 3 Euros for Budweiser. Sangria varied in price depending on how it was made up.
The transfers to and from the airport went smoothly and the flight was good.
We would recommend this resort, hotel and restaurant to anyone. Give it a go.!!!

Our family holiday comprising of 2 adults and 15 year male and 18 year female are just back from the Colon 2 Apartments and would definetly return again, we have been in many apartments in the past, but nothing as good as the Colon!
The apartments provide good security, clean rooms. We booked a 2 bedroom apartment, situated in a central area and yet noise leavels were low.
Good choice of food and drink at fair prices. Lots of places to eat out but. If your looking for a good holiday with lovely accommodation we would highly recommend the Colon 2 Apartments.

Second time we've stayed at the Colon II Apartmentsthis and the second time we have been amazed at the quality and friendlieness of the Staff.
Location was a factor in selecting the apartments, and you can't go far wrong with them, location wise!
Overall, a great set of apartments for all the family.

We were allocated a 2 bedroom apartment on the 4th floor and were extremely impressed. The apartments, pool area and corridors were kept spotless by very polite and helpful staff. Reception were also extremely helpful and booked us some excursions that were cheaper than those from Thomson. Our only problem was that we were unsure how to work the hotplate (as we have a gas hob at home) but feel sure that reception would have helped us out if we had asked. The TVs are coin-operated and a key for the room safe was available at 15 Euros.
We thoroughly recommend these apartments and the resort and a number of holiday-makers that we met have returned on many occasions to Colon II. We found a great restaurant called "Los Angeles" about 200 yards from the apartments (turn left as you exit Colon II) where a two-man group (keyboard player and guitarist) entertain from 9pm until midnight except Wednesday (when an Elvis impersonator performs). The restaurant waiters/waitresses are also polite, helpful and friendly and the food is good.
A word of warning: have nothing to do with the free scratch cards that youngsters try to give you in the streets. These are time-share presentations (no matter what they tell you) and they try to lure you into taxis with a promise of a prize.

The Colon II Apartments in Playa De Las Americas are a fab place to stay.Would recommend these to anyone wanting are quieter holiday in a great resort - travelled with my parents and my husband and 4 year old son and everyone thought it was a superb place.
Apartments are central to everything but away from the 'rowdy bars and clubs'only 5 mins from the 'black beach' but if you wanted the finer sandy beach it was a lovely walk along the promenade! The apartments themselves were absolutely spotless - really couldn't fault them. We had a 2 bed apt which are all on the top floor. Fab views from balcony - make sure you ask for a pool view then you get views of mountains and sea as well - stunning.
Pool area was great and very clean with some lovely food at the pool bar - and try the ice creams served from the front bar beside reception!!
Staff in the apartments are so friendly and helpful. Plenty of great restaurants around - try Pompeii just around the corner and Tony Romas - famous for ribs. PJ's bar across the street was great place to go and have a quiet drink watching everyone go by!!
Definitely want to go back to this resort and these apartments - try them for yourself!!!! 10 out of 10

I hesitate to tell you how good the Colon 2 Apartments are 'cause you might all want to go.
The location is excellent, being just a short walk from the main shopping and restaurant areas of the town but far enough away to be quiet at night. We've only stayed in the studio apartments but they have everything that you will need.
The staff are as helpful and cheerful as any I've stayed with from maids to front desk they all do a first class job. I can recommend sugar and spices (Italian) just along the street and Bianco (Italian) and star of India (Indian) in the town centre.
We only ever stay for a week so we don't do trips but if you want to chill out I can highly recommend a holiday here.

Went to the colon II in June 2007 and had a fantastic holiday. The accommodation was very clean, spacious and a fab location.
It was about 5 minute walk from the beach in the centre to shop, bars and restaurant and 7 minutes to the main clubs. Would recommended this accommodation to all ages including families with young children. It is also has very good access for the disabled as there are ramps all around the complex the only steps there are is to get in pool.
The staff at the Colon II were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. There is also a poolside bar which sells snacks all day at very good prices.
overall I had fantastic holiday I also would recommend to do a few excursions e.g Loro Prague, aqua park and submarine safari.
