Hotel Catalonia Oro Negro
The Catalonia Oro Negro Hotel has 289 rooms in a 11 story high building. All of the rooms have views and a private balcony or terrace with ceiling fan, air conditioning, telephone, television, safe deposit box (local charge payable) and a bathroom.
There is a large restaurant which is non smoking, buffet breakfast with fresh bread and pastry oven, live show cooking during dinner and breakfast with pastry, fried eggs, sausages, etc.
Hotel Catalonia Oro Negro is the perfect holiday hotel for both families and couples who want to enjoy their holiday in the Tenerife sunshine.

We stayed at Hotel Catalonia Oro Negro for our Christmas holiday and really enjoyed it.
It was in the heart of Las Americas only a few minutes away from the busy bars and restaurants, The food in the hotel was average but there wasn't much of a variety of food at night time and the down side was our hotel room was on the corner of the hotel overlooking the pool and it was very noisy at night with cars and sirens from the hospital.
The hotel overall was very clean and great value for money, the entertainment at the hotel was also very funny, there was always entertainment on for all ages including sports. The weather was really warm and hot for the time of year we went.

Stayed here for a short break. Hotel clean enough. Pool area tidy, plenty of sun beds, but the restaurant was pathetic. We had to queue for thirty minutes to get in. When we eventually got a table it had food debris all over it. We had to tell the waiter to change the tablecloth. The whole room was smokey due to one chef who will cook burgers or stuff to order. The food was buffet type, usual crap. Chefs special fish which consisted of all leftovers covered in sauce; same with chef's special meat, which had no description of type of meat and was tasteless and tough. Found some processed cheese and square ham but there were flies on it so we just decided to eat out for the rest of the duration. The smell of fried food seemed to hang on your clothes.
No reps in this hotel, you have to phone England, but there are plenty of reps in the Columbus over the road to book you on over priced trips.
On a more positive note there is a fab little cafe bar called Mathews, just out of the hotel turn right and a couple of hundred yards down the road. Very friendly and do greatbreakfasts and snacks. Would probably stay here on again only if it was self catering.

Just got back from the Hotel Catalonia Oro Negro, I was pleasantly surprised when I got there after reading some of the remarks I read before (I nearly cancelled) but glad that I didn't.
Food was good, rooms clean dining staff very friendly, a bit different than them in Daniels bar at the moment down at Veronicas area the road is dug up what seems like miles. Very surprised how close the other resorts were to Playa De Las Americas & Los Cristianos.
Next time we go we will try the resort of Torviscas, its brilliant if you go there try the Bay View British bar, Julie on karaoke and jonnie Kelly as ELVIS brilliant all round bar and very friendly. Only saw one girl of the night all week, if you go with Thomson's don't expect to see a rep at the Hotel Catalonia Oro Negro.

Just back on 21/06/2005 and thought I would like to be the first to add a review for this hotel. The hotel is spotless. The rooms are cleaned every day, towels changed twice a week and the beds twice a week.
The food was excellent. The choice was amazing. The entertainment for kids during the day was excellent and for mums and dads also very good. Entertainment is on every evening. It suited us, as we had a 6 year old with us, and entertainment is a must.
Would go back in a minute.
