Just came back from spending a week in absolute heaven. My husband and I were treated like royalty. We had a basic double room with a sea view, but it also overlooked the pool and could see the main part of the hotel where the main restaurant and bar were and also the broadwalk where the entertainment performed so we could also hear it from our room and it was tasteful not noisy, they had an operatic type singer, a soul singer and an Adele tribute act as well as the main entertainment staff doing an Elton John evening as well as various other songs. There was also a piano playing in the main bar and later in the evening the entertainment staff sang along with the piano, all very relaxing.
Our room itself was lovely a bathroom with a shower that had 2 heads and massage sprays and there was a jaccuzi bath. The bed could have slept 5 people and it was so comfortable. Very clean the maids came in everyday. There is an ironing board and iron in the cupboard along with tea and coffee making facilities. There is a safe in the wardrobe and it is free to use.
There are about 6 pools one specifically at the back for children with various water activities for them to play in, there is also an adults only pool and a jaccuzi. Every restaurant we ate in the resort was lovely; the main restaurant had a lot to choose from for even the fussiest of people. I can highly recommend the steak in the tex mex restaurant and at lunch time the chicken wings are a nice treat. The Aroma Stone Restaurant which is one where you have to pay to go to is well worth it. Your food is brought to you on a hot plate and you have to cook it yourself, you are given an apron type bib to cover your clothes for any splashes but it was out of this world a steak (or in my case mixed grill) to die for. Also there is the Thai Restaurant which was lovely and we tried to book back in for our last night but it was full but every meal was lovely. You can have breakfast in the main restaurant or the Red Saffron Restaurant but this one is adult only and on most days there are bottles of champagne so you can have a glass with your breakfast.
We were invited to attend a champagne cocktail reception with management and staff the night before we left and this was to get feedback from guests. The staff and management were lovely and very friendly and spent time listening to what people had to say, not that I think anyone could say anything bad about the place at all.
On arrival at the UK airport we went to our own Sensatori rep who put your room number on your case and you give your case to the bus driver and then you don't see it again until it arrives in your room. The coach is just for guests staying at the Sensatori hotel, no drop offs anywhere else. You are greeted at your hotel for a champagne reception and then shown to your rooms.
On the days leading up to departure there is no notice board to tell you when you are being picked up. You get a letter in your room to tell you when you have to have your cases packed by, what time they will be collected from your room, what time you need to be in reception to collect your case and then (this is the best bit) you check in for your flight home at the hotel, they ask you the usual safety questions then check your passport, give you your boarding card, you take your case to the waiting van and then you collected it at your airport on arrival home.
All that is left for you to do is have your breakfast look after your hand luggage and relax for your last day. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.
You still got the odd person who would complain. One person in the queue for check out was saying that this only benefitted the hotel and not the guest??? I couldn't understand this why would anyone want to stand in the heat from 7.30am until 11.30am checking in bags when they could be in an air conditioned airport. One woman in the adult restaurant for breakfast complained that she felt she had waited for ever waiting for her freshly made omelette. How can you complain about that, you tell the chef what you want in the omelette and it is made in front of you there was nothing nicer? I suppose you can't please all of the people all of the time but this was by far our best holiday. You may pay a little bit more than normal but it is well worth it.
Our aim is to try out all the Sensatori Resorts now. We went on a full board basis which included all meals and drinks with meals (apart from the restaurants mentioned in the brochure that state you pay extra for). We chose full board so we could go out and have a few drinks in the bars in the area because for anyone who has never been to Greece the Greeks are the nicest people you could meet, their hospitality is wonderful and their food is amazing. One of the nicest meals we had was in Endalouda, where we shared a mousaka and a Greek salad in a little taverna near the beach - wonderful. Really cannot wait to go back.

We stayed at Sensatori Crete for 7 nights, just me and my girlfriend and we had a fantastic holiday, from start to finish.
When we arrived at hotel, our luggage was taken to our rooms, we were greeted with a drink and then shown to our room. We were then shown around the room and how to work the gadgets i.e. light. We had a sea view room which was fantastic was about 100 yards from the sea. If you do upgrade to a swim up room then this would be advisable around June or July time as the weather is much more hotter, too cold to have in October however it did not stop the kids from jumping in and having fun, from what we saw.
The whole complex is huge, so it is advisable to go on the walk and also the evening walk around the local village. The village is only small and looks run down, however you have to take it as it is, the people are friendly and it's worth going to a local tavern and trying their home made rackie drink.
It's worth going on the local 4x4 safari you can book it with a Thomson rep it's well worth it, great day out, plenty to see and the guide will tell you all about the history as he drives you around. Also its worth catching the local bus No 17 and head off to Spinalonger island it's a good hour between buses but it will be a lot cheaper than going with the hotel and it's much more of an adventure.
The food at the hotel is huge lots to choose from, so leave plenty of space for the deserts. You can choose to upgrade to a beverage package which is 19.95 Euros each, but all in your group have to do so as well, not just 1 person, so if you are a big drinker it will be worth it as the drinks are very expensive, which is a shame so we went over the road to a local cafe bar and they serve their local beer 2.50 Euros and its 5.50 Euros in the hotel.
There is plenty to do for families in fact it's awesome place for kids the fun swimming pool is very cool and times myself and others would of enjoyed a good splash around, there is also archery and its very popular so book in advance. Also I would book evening meals in advance as you use your room key to do this at a computer in the hotel. We treated ourselves to a meal at the Stonegrill which was a change and you was able to cook your meat to how you like it, the hotel gives you 15 Euros off per person again the drinks are not cheap so the extra money off won't go far if you treat yourself to a bottle of wine. If you want to relax and chill out this hotel is the place to do this. Would go back again.

We spent two weeks at this hotel in October. We had booked two family swim up suites for us and our teenage family. After reading some awful reviews about the swim up rooms I contacted Thomson's and asked for either block 6000, 7000 or 8000 as I had read that these blocks were the best. We were given rooms 6002 and 6003 next door to each other and we were happy with the location which was near to all facilities yet quite private. Sun from 12 o'clock. Disappointed with the 'suite' as they were no better than a room. Our bedroom was small with little space for clothes. Bed was huge and very comfortable but our pillows were like bricks. I expected there to be proper beds for the children in the suite but it was a sofa which turned into a single bed, therefore there was not room to sit in the living area (pointless ordering a suite).
Cleaner came in every day and was really good, I gave her tips and she left us pool towels, otherwise you need to exchange them between 5 and 7pm (not always convenient). Really slippery when it rained, would not advise this resort for older people or if you are not steady on your feet.
Restaurant system did not work for us, did not like booking two days in advance. We eat in the main restaurant as the staff were friendly here and the food quite good, although it was a little bland and very repetitive. Staff in the Five Flavour Thai were ignorant. Bar staff were good especially George and waiters really nice, if you made an effort to get to know them they gave you extra attention.
Drinks are really expensive (7 Euros for spirits and cocktails). The all inclusive package is 22 Euros each per day and 11 Euros each for children per day. As we are not big drinkers we did not take up this offer. Drinks at mealtimes are ok but they are a bit singy about giving you a second drink and eventually we got out our seats and went up to the bar ourselves to order more drinks.
Outside the Sensatori resort was a bit of a shock - it was horrible and no life in the place. The beach was ok but could do with some investment from Sensatori. Life guard rubbish, hardly ever on duty, put yellow flag up most of time (swim at your own risk).
We heard there was vomiting and diarrhoea going round the hotel but we never had any problems and I have a low immune system. Some people may have brought it with them (there are over 500 rooms in the resort). We found the whole place spotless, although there were a few drain smells at times. The biggest negative for us was the other guests - never have I been anywhere so unfriendly amongst the guests - everyone glowered at each other. I would imagine that is why there is so many negative reviews as this kind of hotel attracts a lot of middle aged couples with nothing else to do but moan.
I hope I have given a fair review. If you just want a holiday with your family and are happy to settle yourself in the resort you will have a brilliant time but if you want to get out and explore it will cost you a fortune, as you have to rely on organised trips or hiring a car.
I would only go back to this hotel for one week and not for two as boredom sets in. The entertainment starts at 10pm for 1 hour usually. I was often ready for bet by 9:30. We found it a long night, we tried to go for dinner at about 8:30 to stretch out the night, but quite a lot of the time we were in bed by 9:30 which meant we were up at 6am.
Beware weather was very changeable in October and this would put me off travelling at this time again. Everything was shutting down. All the water parks were shut which was very disappointing as this was the only trip we had planned to take. There is a mini super market within the resort and also a very expensive jewellers. The supermarket is twice the price of the one just outside the hotel and the owner of the jewellers is very annoying, if you stopped to look in the window she was trying to get you in and sit down. One pair of ear rings with price tag showing was 2,200 Euros, far to high class for the hotel.

My family and I recently booked a holiday to Sensatori Crete and it was the most disappointing holiday I have ever had. We firstly checked in at Gatwick on the 07/10/10 to be told by a Thomson representative that there was going to be an 8 hour delay to Crete. When my husband questioned why we had not been informed that morning the representative checking us in proceeded to just laugh and say it was one of those things. I found her to be very rude and unprofessional especially when she sent my husband to the wrong area of the airport to collect some compensation vouchers for food which the other representatives were not aware about.
During our stay we were incredibly disappointed with the dining options. The buffet in the main restaurant served the same food for lunch and dinner. One night we booked the Red Saffron and the dinner was a repeat of the main buffet. The Thai restaurant reminded me of school dinners with very basic options and no way a 5 star experience. Plate clearing was pretty poor also as the priority went to clearing empty tables (rather than on existing customers) which left you struggling for room on the various trips to the buffet which I have never experienced at a so called 5 star hotel.
After the first few days we noticed hand sanitizers around the hotel. When we questioned Sensatori staff they just said it was good practice to make sure people had clean hands before they ate. We had heard rumours around the hotel of a virus but thought nothing more of it until at night I started to projectile vomit. My vomiting and diarrhoea got so bad the next day the emergency doctor was called. I was given 2 injections and my husband was given a prescription to get from the pharmacy immediately as I had picked up gastroenteritis. He informed us it was going around the hotel and recommended a deep clean of the room and for me not to go out as it was highly contagious. A deep clean consisted of bleach being put around the toilet! My husband argued with the cleaner and got our bedding and the baby bedding changed. He then went across the road and brought cleaning products himself and cleaned the room and the cleaners sponges smelt. I spent 4 days of my 5 star holidays with diarrhoea, vomiting, headache, fever, chills, and abdominal pain. To make matters worse we had a 5 month old baby in the room with me and we feared for her health. The doctor said if she picked it up it could mean she would be taken to hospital. Thomson and the reception were informed. The representative gave us a quick call in the morning to see if I was still ill and that was it! Absolutely awful service I felt no cared for but a burden to Thomson. No compassion was shown from Thomson representatives at all and I noticed it with other people ill in the hotel too. They offered my husband no help in looking after our 5 month old baby and offered me no entertainment as I was stuck in my room. To add insult my television stopped working and was not fixed until the next day.
The day before we were due to leave my husband started being very ill also. The hotel doctor I had previously seen was not at the hotel and in the end the reception called an ambulance as they said they had had so many reported cases and vomiting, diarrhoea and tonsillitis! DO NOT VISIT

We went to Tenerife Sensatori for our summer holidays and it was fantastic, we enjoyed it so much we came home and booked for Crete what a disaster.
There was cats running all over the hotel, they were in the lobby, Mexican resaurant and waiting outside the main restaurant, if you came out with any food they will chase you.
The rooms were not cleaned properly we found crayons and paper under the kids beds, when emptying the bath water it came up a drain in the toilet that was covered with a set of scales, the balcony was never swept and was full of leaves with ants everywhere, the bedroom floor was only brushed.
My two children had sickness and diarrhea, there were numerous people in the resort very ill but it was all played down. The standard of food in the main resaurant was very poor and in no way up to 5 star ratings.
I would strongly recommend Thomson look into the standards of this hotel, this hotel is never a 5 star hotel. We had already booked for Sensatori Sharm El Sheik but will be asking for our deposit back as I would not chance my kids being ill again due to poor hygiene standards. A BIG DISAPPOINTMENT.

The resort creates a lovely picture but the concept of unstressed relaxation is not achieved.
Children's mealtime is a recommended slot in the evening but no one bothers. We always waited until 8-45 earliest and were still beset by wails, flying feeding bottles and strollers. Main stage entertainment was below par, not up to "Gold" standard, but not to worry we never got to see it close up because all seats were filled with Mum, Dad and kids by 9 pm anyway. Do children not go to bed anymore? Late entertainment Comedy Club etc was brilliant.
Pool bar waiters did not circulate, we had to go and find them, the whole sunbed debacle was just too much, I applaud the sunbed police removing items from unused booked beds but not when I am swimming, it is a real pain to come back looking for your towel and find someone else on your bed and your things gone, not really a "Sensatori Moment".
Rooms and daily service great, sea view from 8113 as paid for only required the leaning out skill of an Olympic yachtsman to catch sight of the breakers, otherwise you were stuck with the Taverna car park and a quite cute goat with his own sun umbrella, more than some had.
The room was really good and appeared to be one of the few with an outward opening shower door, that is another story entirely. Small slippers quickly changed, bathrobes that did not fit were not changed because "one size fits all" we were told, no it does not.
Main bar waiters were great but slowed down by the IT loop and four waiters supplying orders to one barman, more staff needed. Spa wildly expensive and staffed by quite miserable people, turn it into something else. All families with children I spoke to were having a great time, most couples were not.
Restaurant booking system flawed, when the computer is down nothing can be done, just writing in a book was far too much to ask for? So, be honest about sea views, have bigger robes, an adult's only restaurant section, lots more sun beds and umbrellas or even allocate. Will probably go back to Gold next year. Which must say something for Thomson.

We spent 1 week at Sensatori, Crete returning to Gatwick on 10th June. The advertised priority check in was great, but once on the aircraft the crew have no knowledge of who is entitled to the complimentary drink and headphones that are part of the experience and one of the Premier Collection benefits from Thomson.
Once we landed the hotel check in was faultless and we were provided with a meal on arrival at the Sensatori.
Food in the restaurants was of a high standard, with a great choice available, but due some problems they had, the food wasn't very hot. No problems with drinks at the table, except for fairly slow service. We didn't try the a la carte restaurant as the prices were rather high, even with the allowance of 15 Euros a person against the cost of the food, which just about covered the cost of a starter.
Can't see this resort appealing to older couples who want to relax without any kids around. Thomson need to make it clear that there will be plenty of kids around, even in term time!
The Sensatori staff are excellent and could not have been more obliging. However it Thomson don't learn from their mistakes and all the faults that were here last year are still present. The main fault is slippery surfaces, and they are still a problem now!

My Husband and our two small children (4 yrs and 17 months) have just returned from the beautiful Sensatori Hotel, Lyttos Beach!
Talk about exceeding our expectations! We have travelled far and wide and are use to staying in 4 and 5 star complexes, but this hotel is different, not really sure if I can name one thing as your every need is taken care of, every little corner of the complex was stylish, staff are fantastic and made us feel that nothing was too much trouble!
The welcome drinks on arrival were most appreciated; our family room was spacious with a super comfy queen sized bed! The room included an iron, ironing board, hairdryer, fridge and kettle, large flat screen television, jet shower and bath (heaven!) The family pool was lovely and warm as it was heated; sure my four year old has turned into a fish! The splash pool was great fun, however the water temp is cold compared to the family pool, so we spent most of our days by the family pool side. Waiter service at the pool is also a nice touch; I was also pleased that every pair of sun loungers had a parasol (a must when bathing with small and big kids). A word of advice, make sure that all family members wear shoes or sandals around the pool area as it does get slippery, just be sensible and there shouldn't be any accidents.
There are a few shops on site and a supermarket across the entrance to the hotel (water and snacks cheaper here than in hotel).
The restaurant staff were wonderful and very family friendly, (a big thank you to Rodica & Chrysa!). The food was excellent, even our children enjoyed the food, especially desert!!! The entertainment team especially Ryan and Sophie were excellent and really got the children and adults involved in the evening programme. The play house was also very fun and well organised and my daughter enjoyed attending the 1 hour play sessions (thanks again to Becky, Emma and Georgina) who were great fun and never failed in keeping the kids entertained!
The weather was a fab32 degrees, thank goodness for the sea breeze, would advise going at start or end of season if travelling with small kids so it's not too hot!
On our last day, we kept our room on until 6pm for 65 Euros which was well worth it as we weren't leaving the hotel until 7.30pm. The luggage check in at the hotel on your last day is a genius idea, felt like a VIP when we arrived at Heraklion Airport and did not have to join the horrifically long check in queue and just went straight through to security!
On the whole we could not fault the hotel, staff or overall holiday experience, going to return next May but for 2 weeks!

We went as a family of 4 to the 5* Sensatori in Crete. This opened in 2008 so is pretty new. It was gorgeous. The hotel and rooms were so modern and clean and our room was bigger than we thought. It had a huge bed with views of the sea. It had 2 balconies and separate living area. The bathroom was lovely and had separate shower and bath tub.
There were pools in the style of lagoons a large hot tub in the centre. It was on a sandy beach with watersports so was great. The food was just delicious in the main buffet restaurant and the service was fantastic. We booked into the other restaurants for some nights which was included in price and they were great and a nice change.
Entertainment every night was lovely for the kids to watch and there were even fireworks one night. In the days there was a kids club that our daughter attended for 2 days and loved it. There was also a crèche and they do movie evenings for the children. There were plenty more activities than I've mentioned and its actually bigger and better than I thought.
Thomson's website is spot on about the place and I would definitely go back. I'm hoping they might build some more in other countries. As there are only 3 I think.

The service is terrible - not once did we sit down to a fully laid table the whole 2 weeks we were there, and when asked for the missing items, the staff seem most put out, and actually snarl at you.
We had a couple of problems with our bath in our room - mainly the jets squirted out dirty, smelly water. This was reported to reception 3 times and took a week before anything was done about it.
The rooms have nice, big beds, but that's about it. The rest of the furniture leaves a lot to be desired. We were lucky to be allocated a room in the main block, as some of the rooms are across a road over looking the hotel generators and a couple of local supermarkets. Feel really sorry for the poor people stuck over there.
The food in the Main Restaurant (or canteen I feel is a more appropriate description) was really unsatisfying and in most cases totally over-salted. This includes the children's buffet which my 2 yr old refused to eat (and she's not a fussy eater).
The Tex Mex and the Thai are better than the canteen, but would probably be investigated under the trades description act if they set up in the UK and called themselves Tex Mex and Thai. (The waitress in the Tex Mex did not even know what salsa was, and seemed to find nothing wrong with serving Tortilla Chips with salad dressing to dip them in!!)
The floors all round the hotel and swimming pools are really slippery and rather dangerous. One poor lady slipped over on some rain water that had been left in the corridor for 2 days and broke her leg. I'm quite suprised there weren't more incidents like this too.
The actual location of the hotel is terrible. It is more or less in the middle of nowhere, with the village of Analypsi a 10 minute walk away down a road with large stretches of no pavements and absolutely no street lights making it particularly hazardous at night.
Would never go to this hotel again, would not recommend it to anyone and would think twice about booking anything with Thompson again as I feel they totally over-sold the Hotel both in their brochures and through their travel agents.
A total disappointment. Not a 5 Star Hotel......This hotel is definately NOT a 5 Star.

I reckon that we paid top dollar for our 2 rooms at the Sensatori, but we needed 2 rooms due to there being 6 people in our party, so we were hoping that Thomson delivered its 5 star experience promises. Unfortunately I think the standard was only 4 stars.
The problems at the Sensatori range from little niggles like the cutlery service in the restaurants, where you are provided with the wrong type of cutlery to the more important issues of Health & Safety, particularly around the pool area, which is very slippy.
We found that the entertainment was excellent in the evenings and the range of shows was of a good standard. All things considered, we would go back, but would be reluctant to pay the full brochure price too far in advance of taking our holiday again.

All we can say is fabulous, and yes, we are going back again this year for the third time. The rooms are way above other accommodation we have had in other hotels, but if your children are approaching teenage, try and get a family suite which has 2 separate rooms.
My only criticism are the moans from adult only parties, who complain about the amount of children running around. Why did they book a hotel with such excellent Kids club and other facilities, in School holidays, expecting a peaceful time?

After reading some of the early reviews on Trip Advisor we were a little apprehensive of the hotel to be honest. But I think the reviews on Trip Advisor for the Sensatori that reflect holidays taken in May and June reflect some of the teething problems that this hotel suffered in its early days.
With the exception of the slippy floors, that was mentioned on Trip Advisor, I didn't notice anything particularly wrong with this resort. Contrary to the image portrayed in the Thomson brochure regarding offering 5 star service and a relaxing time for couples, I think this resort is more suitable for families, as there are hundreds of kids around the place, so anyone thinking that their holiday would be in a sophisticated, adult exclusive environment will be somewhat disappointed with the Sensatori.
Was the Sensatori right for us? Yes, very much so, we were there as a family of 4 and enjoyed every minute of it. I'm sure the kids developed webbed feet with the amount of time that they were in the pools! Food is good too, with lots of choice, and plenty to of restaurants to try out. Drinks can be a little expensive, as they are only included at meal times in our package, but overall we would go back again to the Sensatori.

We went to the Sensatori in June 2008 and really enjoyed ourselves. The rooms are outstanding, but I would maintain that they are not a true 5 star standard. However for the money we paid, this was a great holiday.
My only tip would be to find out everything you would want to use in terms of facilities and book them as soon as possible, because lots of the 'experiences' get fully booked.
We didn't know anything about the Sensatori Resort until we stumbled upon this site at www.sensatori-resort.com which featured videos and photos of the Sensatori Resort in Crete.

We had a great holiday at the Sensatori, Thomson should be congratulated for this move on taking package holidays to a higher level.
Transfers were excellent, only 20 minutes on the air conditioned coach with our bags taken directly to our room and the return journey is even better, as you do you check in at the hotel. The best to date.
Rooms excellent: huge bed, iron, hairdryer, tea making, fridge, television, air conditioning, balcony with a sea view, shower, bathroom and Jacuzzi. The staff was excellent; all of them, serving, reception, bar staff, room maids etc. Our room at the Sensatori was cleaned daily and was spotless, as were communal areas. The Thomson reps, sport team and entertainments team were all earning their money.
Facilities were outstanding: loved the swimming pools and plenty of comfortable sunbeds and parasols. The gym was good and spa fantastic, if a bit expensive. Food good, but could be improved, not 5 star in my opinion: breakfast lunch, so much to choose from. My recommendations for Thomson at the Sensatori would be to get the food slightly better and consider offering the Sensatori for people who only want Half Board.

We have just returned from the Sensatori. The room was nice; we had a standard room with a sea view room. With regards to the food, there was a good choice most days; however it would be either warm or stone cold. The restaurant staff were very professional and well organised.
The entertainment at the Sensatori was OK but have seen better in 3 and 4 star hotels. The main show each evening usually starts around 10 pm with the disco starting around midnight.
We actually left the Sensatori for one day and went on one of the trips to Spinalonga Island. That was overall a very good day out, with a knowledgeable guide. All things considered we had a great holiday, but slightly expensive!

The hotel and complex generally are very good, but I would like to mention the need to book the restaurants in advance could be something to be sorted out by the owners of the Sensatori. Were on holiday, and the need to make a formal booking at the restaurants in advance is a little restrictive in my opinion.
Here are the good points I found for the Sensatori. The food was of a very good standard with plenty of choice. The swim up rooms was a nice touch, which I've not seen before on any package holiday. All the advertised facilities were of a high standard, if a little over crowded around some of the pools!
Finally a special mention to the entertainment staff who worked hard and the Thomson team at the Sensatori who start your holiday off with a professional approach.

We have just returned from the Sensatori Resort from my first holiday since we got married. We could not have picked a better place for our holiday. Rated as 5 star, but I would not put it in the same league as a 5 Star hotel in London, New York etc, but it was an excellent hotel.
In the lobby bar of the Sensatori the prices of the drinks were reasonable and to be honest were not that much more expensive than the local bars and Tavernas. We had our meals in the Thai restaurant which I would recommend. You need to book this restaurant as it gets very busy. The meals were of a good standard and the wine was always cold when it arrived. The Tex Mex restaurant is always busy at lunchtime and you will need to wait your turn to enter.
All in all the Sensatori provided a good holiday and I will be back next year. One area I would like to se the management team at either the Sensatori or Thomson resolve is the putting out of towels in the morning to reserve sunbeds, it's really annoying to see the effort made with this complex from Thomson, just to see the Sensatori decline into just another 'holiday hotel in the sun'!
Activities for the kids were very good and the night time entertainment was fairly good as well. The television in your room has plenty of information available with regards the daily activities and nightly entertainment.
