"Excellent Family Holiday"

We have stayed at the Alykanas Village twice now and have thoroughly enjoyed both visits. The hotel setting is so beautiful you can't help but fall in love with the place. Yes the rooms are basic but its Greece so we didn't expect any different. All the hotel staff was very friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

The choice of pools is great for the kids; sports pool/entertaining pool with small pool for toddlers at the end and beach front pool (quiet pool). For us the Thomson Reps just make our holiday that bit more special every bit the professionals and doing a great job keeping everyone entertained (yes that's their job but they give 110% and always look like they are enjoying themselves) I hope Thomson are aware of what a good job Diva Danii and Jazzy Jamie are doing - they made our holiday! Will be back again for sure.

"Perfect Place For A Holiday With Younger Children"

This review is for Alykanas Village from the Thomson Family Xtra range of holidays and is NOT related to the neighbouring Alykans Beach Hotel!.

The Alykanas Village is the perfect place for a holiday with younger children, don't worry if it's your first holiday away with your youngsters, as Thomson will cater for all your family's needs, however if you are a seasoned holidaymaker you will find this hotel a little expensive for what you get.

Beach: The hotel is located right on it, just a few steps down from the hotel. The beach consists of a long, narrow strip of sand. While we were there, we did encounter a few windy days and this combined with the high tide to wash up a lot's of shingle. The sea was shallow for a long way out, so perfect for your kids. Hire services are available for sun loungers, jet skis and pedaloes.

Swimming pools: There are 3 pools, 1 with a shallow area so small children cannot get in to the deep water. Around the pools, there are sun loungers & parasols. The pools are services each morning by the hotel's staff/contractors who are checking the water quality daily.

Room: We booked a 2 bed roomed family room that comprised of 1 double and 2 single beds. Included in the rooms were a hairdryer, television, kitchen with microwave, hob, toaster and kettle. We also had 4 large "Thomson" branded beach towels as well as the normal bathroom towels. You could use the Thomson towels around the pool. The beach towels were changed weekly. Rooms were cleaned every day, except Sunday. The rooms were fairly clean, although the bathroom had a few repairs, and the drains could smell at times. We were very disappointed with the balcony. Our balcony was long but narrow and did not get much sunshine.

Watch Out: The air-conditioning and room safe are expensive. We paid 8 Euros a day for air conditioning and 25 Euros a week for the room safe, so we had just handed over 162 Euros of our spending money as soon a we checked in to the Alykanas Village.

Kidsclubs: Our children didn't use them, but most of the other holidaymakers kids did, so they looked OK. The kids reps appeared friendly. Our 11 year old did not want to use the club as there was nothing for him to do!

Entertainment: A big letdown. The Thomson Reps all worked hard, but it was like a holiday camp in the UK during the 80s, with daft quizzes and kids disco's with Thomson the dog. We only had one professional show during the fortnight. For such a big company as Thomson, I was expecting far more! When I'm on holiday, I want to relax and watch a show in the evenings, not look at other holidaymakers entertaining themselves with balloon games!

"Alykanas Village Is Great For Families"

The Alykanas Village is great for families but not so good for couples. The evening entertainment was poor and was geared up to entertain families.

The Zante Island trip was great, including the Blue caves boat trip & the winery. We also enjoyed the trip on the small land train which took us to the small museum in the hills plus the small church with its sulphur well.

Spiros the driver and his English guide did a marvellous job on this two & half hour mini trip. (Well worth the 12.50 Euros per adult).

If you are going for more than one week I suggest you hire a car to see the best of what this lovely Island can offer.

"Had A Great Holiday"

We have just returned from a week at Alykanas Beach Village and had a great holiday. It is perfect if you like the beach, only a few steps down from the pool and you are on a lovely beach. The hotel was clean and has good facilities, the rooms are good, beds a little on the hard side but acceptable.

The resort has just the right amount of bars and taverns, not too noisy but not too quiet. We liked the Poseidon restaurant, but also Greedy Greek although that one is a little more expensive. The Greek evening at the hotel on a Monday evening is fun and worth going to. Not too much entertainment at the hotel, but we didn't find it a problem.

Just be aware that the prices of drinks at the hotel are fairly expensive, and the mini market on site is also more expensive that other supermarkets, although we did use the mini market, it was convenient.

All in all a very good place to go, I would recommend it to a friend and would definitely go back.
