Hotel Barcelo Pueblo Menorca, Punta Prima

Got back last week after a rather un-relaxing fortnight at the Pueblo Barcelo in Punta Prima.
I don't recommend this hotel for the following reasons. The rooms are tiny, even after a family room upgrade you would still find more space in a 2 star hotel. There is no air-con (although fans can be hired via reception , no fridge and no hairdryer. The room decor is outdated - there are prints on the walls signed "72" and I know that the Hotel was built in the following year, so you can see they've not improved that aspect. Walls are thin - and the corridors echo to the sound of high heels and even flip-flops. The clientele is either 90% German (on our first week) or the same again but Italian/Spanish on our second.
The second week was particularly noisy - not helped by the lunatic fringe of the Animation or "Entertainment" team who attempt to whip everyone up into giddy frenzy (not usually the Brits I'm glad to report). The said "Entertainment" is noisy, vulgar, unfunny and mostly pathetic - we saw I think only three Pro acts when we were there and this was a welcome relief.
So you've heard the worst, now hear the best...the food is rather good (though not always that hot) and we had a partial sea view from our balcony. The Hotel is only 5 minutes stroll from the lovely beach - not much in Punta Prima, but okay maybe for a week. About 10 per cent of the staff (mainly the cleaners!) are chirpy enough...but avoid the pool guys though - they'll wake you at 7.30am, power-washing the pool are as yet pull faces when you have no other alternative but to get up, place your towels on your loungers and go to breakfast to escape the noise.
Avoid this Hotel - don't let this place spoil your Menorca experience!!!
