"The Room Was Spotlessly Clean"

We spent two weeks at this hotel at the beginning of July. Where to start? The hotel is situated in a small resort behind security barriers. On entering the reception our first impressions were "wow" it is all marble and chandeliers.

There are always at least 3 reception staff on who can't do enough for you. We arrived at about midnight and were starving so the man on reception walked over to the supermarket with us and when it was closed he went into the hotel kitchen and brought out a plate of pastries which was greatly appreciated.

Our room was situated just off the pool area and although it was on the ground floor it was up a few steps so we didn't suffer with creepy crawlies... The room was spotlessly clean and the cleaner came daily, we got a litre and a half bottle of water daily and also a towel sculpture with fresh flowers on our pillows. The pool was also spotlessly clean and the whole area was cleaned nightly. The only drawback was that there weren't many sunbeds in the shade and the ones that were in the shade got reserved in the early hours, usually by people who didn't use them until 4.00pm.

The reps meeting was reasonably informative with the usual trips etc... We booked 2 trips with the Tiger Marine Company on the beach and both of them were fantastic, very cheap with everything included. I would say that it is essential that you snorkel when on the beach and take an underwater camera (£5.00 from Tesco) there are some fantastic corals and fish to be seen.

The food. Well I have to say that it was very good. There was a large amount of choice and there was always lots of things to try. If you aren't very adventurous with your food then you might think that there wasn't a lot of choice, but we loved it. Every night is a themed night with local dishes, oriental dishes, Italian dishes and a fish night to name a few. The waiters all dress up in different outfits to match the theme. The drinks are plentiful and you can even have cocktails on the all inclusive. There is also a dine around scheme where you can eat at other restaurants in the complex. You get a voucher for £3.50 each and you pay the difference. We had starters, wine and a main course each and for 4 people we paid an extra £10.00 between us.

I have read other reviews and I know there has been lots said about a stomach bug. Well this is correct and we were informed of the bug by other English guests practically the minute we stepped into the hotel. Yes there was a bug going around and I caught it myself. Although I am not a doctor I do not believe it was down to the food. There were six people in our party and we all caught it, but not at the same time. We all had different symptoms and varying degrees of the symptoms. I think that someone had a bug on entering the hotel and it slowly got passed around. There were people who sat and suffered whilst taking Imodium. Imodium did not work!!!! When I got struck down with it I went to the doctor the same day, I had an injection and some tablets and by the end of the following day I felt much better. I was not ill again and ate the same types of food that I had prior to becoming ill... Just drink lots of water and if you become ill, go straight to the doctor. You are covered by your travel insurance and it just isn't worth wasting your holiday confined to your room! By the end of the second week there seemed to be less people that were ill.

I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone that wants a relaxing holiday and is prepared to try different foods. If all you want is fry ups and egg and chips this probably isn't the place for you.
